Mo’Booty, a psych-surf Francophone band, casts shades of punk over their slowly flooding Miami hometown landscape. Their sound is heavy, thick, loud, and sometimes noisy, but always hits with a purpose. The band has kept busy self recording a demo, touring across Florida and beyond to 2015's SXSW in Austin, TX, and playing everything from DIY spaces to festival stages around South Florida. Starting as a duo with Monica McGivern and Alexandre "Booty" Merbouti, and later with the of Cody Mentelos, Mo'Booty draws inspiration from noir films, Quentin Tarantino soundtracks and the general decay of the world today. They are currently in the process of recording their first full length LP, in the meantime you can catch them on their European tour this Fall for the release of their 7".
"It sounds like a crossbreeding of David Lynch’s “Lost Highway,“ Dick Dale on acid, and a Humphrey Bogart gumshoe film noir." - Purehoney Magazine

An annual exhibition organized by the Honors College at FIU, Aesthetics & Values empowers 40 students from a range of disciplines and majors to become curators as part of a year-long course that culminates in a showcase of acclaimed Miami artists. From the curatorial vision to installation design, students oversee all facets of the exhibition, becoming fully immersed in the art world. Since the inaugural course in 2006, the exhibition reception has evolved into the most attended event at the Frost Art Museum, attracting over 1,000 guests.
The Rhythm Foundation has been presenting for 30 years international artists and quality community-based programs on the occasion of concerts, events and festivals. They will be the partner of the French Embassy’s Cultural Services for the celebration of the Fête de la Musique 2017. During the night of Wednesday, June 21st, they invite you to celebrate the beginning of summer in music, from 7pm to 11pm at Wynwood Yard, 56 NW 29th St, Miami.
For the opening act, Mo’booty, a psychedelic, surf-noir Francophone band, will cast shades of punk over the slowly flooding Miami landscape. Their sound is “heavy, thick, loud, sometimes noisy but always hits with a purpose”. Tamboka, a musical group inspired by Gypsy and Latin musical traditions, will then perform, inviting you to feel, love, live, and vibe with them through the tropical and earthy sounds impregnated in their hands and voices. In Wynwood Yard, be prepared to “free your mind, as your soul follows”!
